Membership of havco is open to organisations concerned with Social Welfare, Environment, Ethnic Minorities, Cultural, Social, Recreational and Religious activities, subject to the following criteria:
- That it is involved with or relevant to the local voluntary sector in the administrative area of the London Borough of Havering
- That it has or is working towards developing a Constitution or a set of rules.
- That in the event of it holding money, it has arrangements for financial control which are sufficient to secure the funds under its control.
- That it ascribes to the principles and aims of Havco, the Havering Council for Voluntary Service .
- That it has a commitment to equal opportunities
Honorary/Associate membership is open to statutory bodies, private businesses, national and regional voluntary organisations and individuals who support the aims and objectives of havco, but such membership does not confer any voting rights in the affairs of havco.
Membership Benefits
Its Free We receive funding from a variety of sources including the London Borough of Havering, Bridge House Estates, Children's Fund, London Councils and Community Fund.
Newsletter Our Newsletter is sent to voluntary groups in Havering. Members have the opportunity to include articles and are regularly featured in our ‘Members Profile’ to help them promote their group.The Newsletter is published six times a year
Reference Library Use our reference library which has books, leaflets, pamphlets & periodicals etc that cover topics including Being a Trustee, Health & Safety, Finance, and Charity Law to name a few. We can also offer the use of photocopying facilities. And if you’re not sure if we may have a book that can help you, call us first and we’ll check our library database.
Voluntary Sector Lunches with Guest Speakers These are held at various locations throughout Havering. The lunch is free, having been sponsored by the Havering Strategic Partnership, and it gives both our members and non-members the opportunity to network and interact both with us and other members. We also arrange guest speakers to discuss a relevant or hot topic.
Assistance with Funding Applications One of our main roles is to assist members with their funding bids/applications. Please contact us for details of where funding is available and how to apply.
Open House Events Come and see our centre of operations and enjoy a buffet lunch at the same time during one of our Open Houses. You can quiz us and pick our brains along with accessing our funding or library databases and the reference library.
Network Opportunities Benefit from our ever-increasing membership by letting us introduce you to other groups, doing simlar work or doing complementary work in your area.
