Local MP supports work of Havering's Voluntary Sector Umbrella Body and Volunteer Centre.
Andrew Rosindell, MP for Romford visited HAVCO's offices in Eastern Road on Friday 20th June and commended the hard work being done by the charity. He was impressed with the range of services available to help the local charities and support groups within Havering,. In light of David Cameron's Green Paper 'Voluntary Action in the 21st century' Mr Rosindell visited Havco as part of a fact finding tour to discover more about what support is available to help the voluntary sector in the borough. "Although I knew about the good work Havco do, I wasn't aware of the full range and breadth of the services they offer, I would recommend any voluntary group to contact Havco to find out how they [and the borough] could benefit from working with them" stated Mr Rosindell.
Mr Rosindell spoke with staff from the various departments within Havco including the training team, the Volunteer Centre, where he acknowledged the value and importance of volunteers in community cohesion in Havering, "volunteers are unsung heroes of the borough, and I can only commend the work they do for the residents of Havering. It's also good to see that a charity like Havco is there to find volunteers and match them with local charities, as well as delivering support or help anyone who wishes to volunteer [We] The Conservatives are committed to supporting the Third Sector and the work that they do" assured Mr Rosindell.
